2011 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance 1965 Papal Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet

Bill Warner (left), Chairman of the 2011 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in Amelia Island, Florida, shows racing legend Sir Stirling Moss OBE the VIP raised roof of the 1965 Papal Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet on Sunday. The specially-constructed convertible limousine was used by three Popes until 1985. The car made its first visit to the United States from The Mercedes-Benz Museum in Germany for the 16th annual event. The Amelia Island Concours is one of the world's leading classic car events and drew the rarest cars from more than 11 countries. As a contrast, another Mercedes 600 Pullman limo, owned by Playboy Magazine founder Hugh Hefner in the 70s also made an appearance, with a Playboy Bunny exiting the car at the reviewing stand. While the crowd reacted enthusiastically upon her arrival, they were more reverential when the Pope's vehicle was presented.  Nearly 20,000 car lovers were on-site at the event, which had the largest single-day attendance in its history.
